My trip to Alvord desert April/May 2008

This is my camp at the intersection next to well #3.

I have camped here before, and it's a good central place to take ATV rides from. Their are 5 wells down the east side of Alvord desert. I am next to well number three.

This is all thats left of the #3 well

Looking east from the road to #4 well

Looking west from the same location

My ATV is on the road or what is left of it. It fades away just south of well number four.

This is what's left of the 4th well

Big sand gap

The road from here to the east joins a road the comes back to small sand gap. To the west it goes out onto the playa. I took a ride to ancient lake, very rough road.

Horses I saw on the way to ancient lake

I only got a few snow flakes, you must look close to see them

It is still a nice day and i am sitting outside reading. That will give you an idea what an open place this is.

I met Tom one day and we decided to go riding together today and tomorrow. First we stopped out on the playa and looked at some moving rocks.

One day i went towards the agate mine then took the road north from there to small sand gap. Lots to see including the bench that follows and the wind mill.
